In this vid, a timid driver in a McLaren supercar is stalked by a more aggressive (but not great) driver and his good buddy n a Vette. The McLauren driver lets the Vette driver hang in for 4 minutes. But he sure jumps on it on the straights Turn the sound up, it sounds like the Vette guys could be drinking beer...

I really like Circuit of the Americas. That hill up to turn one looks awesome. I love when F1 shows the T-bar cam over the driver's head for that run up.
That Corvette sounded nice, but there's no way it could hold a candle to the P1. It's fancy sports/muscle car vs hyper car. We're talking $79K vs $1.15M. That's ~14.5 Z06s you could buy for the price of the P1, for you math folks. I'd LOVE to see a heads-up shoot-out between a McLaren P1 and a Porsche 918 Spyder.

"but there's no way it could hold a candle to the P1" -- but it filmed the P1 for 4 minutes -- It should have only filmed for 15 seconds each lap when being lapped.
I think that we are agreeing. Or, what if the P1 had crappy tires mounted and could not corner? Or it was the first time ever on a track for the driver so all he could do was coast the corners and stomp it on the straight? Anyway, I was impressed by the Vette. As much as I hate to say it.

OR... it was a combination of the P1 being held up by traffic, maybe novice-ish driver, or not being willing to put a $1.15M car in danger.
Speaking of expensive cars, on Monday's new episode, Top Gear did a segment on the new Ferrari LaFerrari. It's a $1.55M beast with a 789bhp V12 being aided by a 161bhp KERS system, similar to what is found in an F1 car. The thing is just ridiculous. Obviously, Top Gear's audience waits with baited breath for a track test of the LaFerrari, the 918 Spyder, and the P1, for comparison sake. Unfortunately, Ferrari and McLaren are being babies. Porsche, to their credit, are completely open to it, and will lend the show a car anytime for a shootout. McLaren will do the shootout, but not at the Top Gear test track, which is also THEIR test track (where the P1 was developed) because they think some of the tighter bits would favor the 918. They also stipulate that all three cars shall be customer cars, as sold to the public with stock-mounted street rubber. Ferrari wants all three cars to be delivered from the factory on the stickiest rubber available. So, those two want the exact opposite things. Top Gear thought about borrowing all three cars from owners who are friends/fans of the show, but Ferrari stated that if a LaFerrari owner lends the show a car for this shootout, they will NEVER be allowed to buy a limited edition Ferrari again. Argh!

Dammit I had a decent rant written and oops gone byebye. I may have the energy to reproduce it -- it was "heartfelt"
