Downhill in the Park, I once barely out ran a plated AFM racebike, a GS 1000, piloted by a truly fast club racer - Dennis Smith - on my drum brake Suzuki 250 X6 Hustler. It was all about high cornering speed, listening to that monster howling and chattering as he closed on me at the end of every straight. While he was accelerating and braking, I was making arcs, defending real estate, slithering, all the way to the bottom of the hill. The adrenaline . . . .

Suzuki 250 X6 Hustler -- good memories. I find it fun that some of is gravitated to the same little hotrods. I had guys on Triumph 650s try to stay with me on winding Florida country roads. And the Suzuki was mostly stock if my memory is holding up 45 years later.

Tetge and I have some shared bikes. Did you by chance have a Ducati Diana Mk 3, or a Bultaco Pursang (the single downtube red one) along the way?

I rode my brother's Ossa road racer, dumb wide ratio/dirt 4 speed, dumb all metal clutch that would drag at every street light, 305 Super Hawk brakes, very light bike and on the pipe it was fast. We never had a Bultaco.

We had many Ducati singles, he had a high compression hot rod 350 with Diana cam and big valve head and, yes, I had a MK I 250 Diana, '67 spec, endurance tank & headlight, clip-ons/rearsets, tach, megaphone - easily >100 MPH. Also had a 350 Desmo and a 450 Desmo, and a '72 750 Sport.

That X6 was a great bike too.

I wouldn't know about racing in the park. Legend has it that there were crews that rode there and that they sometimes descended the back side at a pretty good clip. But, I personally have no knowledge of such things. Funny, I seem to recall that the brakes of a 1968 Suzuki Titan could be faded to uselessness on that descent, and that the rear brake pedal could become impossible to push down on because it would hit the ground. It also was said that Matchless singles, which were sort of early supermotos, never had these clearance problems. But, I must have heard all of this second hand, as I certainly would never.............................

So, did anyone else get a new bike yet? Other than Tetge? Where is MikedBike? He out slaying kids on open track days now?

Makes me wonder what ever happened to all those (wonderful) little bastards that used to kick my ass in the Sttars Beginner class on my bone stock DRZ, all with their florescent pink helmet Mohawks and dealership owning daddies fully kitted up and bored out little 2 strokers. Making me the laughing stock of all Bakersfield with the sports page super sized photo coverage of me mixing it up with them... I wonder if they have gone on to bigger and better things, are in some sort of secret factory up and comer training program or if they just plain hit puberty, found women and forgot all about all things on two wheels?

Where are the latest KTM "kill stories" from Tetge?

Is Norton John just bragging about that little toy Honda of his, or is he actually riding it? Has he given up on his own Supermoto KTM converted machine and decided to stick with the tried and true, proven over time Norton ?

Has Walker waged war on the Ducati dealership in Ol Mexico over continued delivery date push-backs? (guess I could go find his thread and find out for myself).

Me? Nothing.

I got a "verbal agreement" from my previous employer that they would "make things right" and to go ahead and finally start the lengthy procedure of getting my shoulder fixed once and for all... only to have an initial consultation, X-Rays, much head scratching, talk of permanent nerve damage (WTF?), the scheduling of an MRI, and many miles travelled... just to get a bunch of bills in the mail for all of it! Emails to my legal team remain unanswered. :| But, this was only since yesterday. Though, even if all goes well, I am now concerned that a procedure or recovery time will push into my much beloved and mentally needed week of Vintage Bike events that rolls around in the first part of October.

So, more waiting. Good stuff.

Okay I've been talking about money from my crash lawsuit & Tetge feels it's BS! But my lawyer texted me today & he is picking up the check from the county TODAY!!! It will have to clear his bank & then they cut my check. Supposed to meet him for lunch & my check late next week!! So I will be buying a CRF150bw and converting it to motard. Plus pep up the motor & suspension a bit. I have no desire to race but I love open track days with lots of bikes on the track. Plus I can take it up north when I visit Lisa & do track days with her. My back still will hurt but my bank balance will be healthier!

Congratulations! There is a certain healing aspect to a healthy back account. Probably a lack of tension... :-D
