How do I get that "drive other people's cars" job at Hastings?
Just 5 -10 gentle laps a month, of course.

appointment is scheduled for end of July or early August. fine tuning the date/facility. So we will return home 7/3 -- take care of caca there, then scoot back for the procedure.
So we have a couple of days to wrap up some projects we started while here.

Re: The beat goes on... :-)
It seems that we are heading up to SoCal next Monday, and starting the removal of the 1/2 inch kidney stone on Tuesday.
I've been in a catch 22, in that I need to be 'well' for the removal procedure to take place and the stone is keeping me 'not well'. So I am pounding 3000 mg of some nasty Mexican antibiotic a day -- not FDA approved -- and forcing down about 120 oz of water a day to 'flush' the area... No booze life not worth living.
The process will take between 2 days and 3 weeks
Wish me well

Ouch! So, is it a series of laser treatments to break it into smaller chunks, or something along those lines? Or are they trying to dissolve it?

They hope to break it apart into smaller fragments and then use a 'netting' device' to pull fragments out. if it were 1inch, they would bore in thru my back, and that is the fall-back plan if they can't get the tools/devices close enuf to the stone to blow it up. The first UCLA doctor stepped away. The new UCLA doc seems up for the task. The Mexican doc says 'thanks' for doing it in the USA. I just want the pos gone so I can stop taking antibiotics. I am bored with this kind of bs.

Good luck, hombre.
It's still sitting, waiting for me to finish the bike, so I can get that sold off, and use the money to buy truck panels & paint. I took a welding class about a month ago, and found it relatively simple. I picked up a nice MIG welder set-up for a good price, so I'm all set to fix all the rust on the truck. Just waiting for Rach's uncle to have time to replace our old electrical panel, and add 220V to the garage so I can weld. I'll fix one panel at a time until I just have the frame sitting in the driveway. Should be fun.

Stone is gone. They were able to get the laser close and blew the stone up. The stone hardness helped it shatter (the doc said). They used the net to pull out the big chunks. That process seems to have created some residual pain. Yesterday post op was the worst pain that I can remember. Apparently the small remaining chips are jagged -- and hurt like a bitch coming out. Seeing the blood freaks me out.
I'm calling it a good result. I should be able to return home in 7-10 days after the stents are removed.

Glad to hear they were able to knock it out in one session. At least the pain should be relatively temporary.jhwalker wrote:Stone is gone. They were able to get the laser close and blew the stone up. I got the go ahead after not hurting myself in class, and coming home with a wonderfully-crafted piece of artwork that I welded up myself. That was enough for me to be able to say, "See, I can do it!"xbacksideslider wrote:Yikes!
