As one of my oldest friends said, taking advantage of the senior shopping hours at stores is the first good thing about being elderly that he can remember. So, Costco was crowded by my standard and social distancing was a joke, but, the crowds were still smaller than regular ones, and, the store was empty and presumably less contaminated when they let us in at 7:45. I will not know if the visit done me in for up to 12 more days, or so, but, it had to be less dangerous than regular hours. I also have reports that Trader Joe's is good during senior hours, as they do not let many people in, and, they only allow a new person in, when someone exits. The waiting line to get in is also well socially distanced, unlike Costco's. And, I have a report that one Ralph's is also behaving in a like disciplined manner. But, what price can be put on food?SonicVenum wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2020 7:51 amGlad to hear you're re-stocked on provisions, Pat. We have not been brave enough to revisit Costco since our last attempt a few weeks ago. When we saw people lined up outside, that was our cue to go to our local grocery store, then back home. The only items we buy from Costco pretty consistently are dog food and liquor. Luckily, we're still pretty well stocked on both.

Love Costco meats, though, they are typically expensive. That being said, I've never been disappointed by them. We usually favor the ribeye. I've been playing with different cooking methods. Reverse sear and frequent turning and basting in a hot cast iron skillet with butter and garlic are my two favorites. I know you like your beef still mooing, but I enjoy a nice juicy medium.

Mexican Costco meat is GOOD. I eat tiny portions since my stroke. My brain correlates good meat to STROKE ! -- right or wrong.
Damn I miss the meat

"Quick links" in the upper left corner, then "Unread Posts."
