No,it is not available as an automatic version.
I've included a link to the 2008 GT500 ordering guide with a list of all options.

No they don't have an option for an automatic transmission.

Xero, please actually have some knowledge on the subject before you pass judgement on it. The GT500 is a great car, whether or not you like the live rear axle. Ford gave it a live rear axle because that's what the CONSUMERS wanted, if you want IRS then get an 03-04 Cobra, slap a pulley on it, with a tuner, exhaust and maybe an intake and you'll be hanging with a new Shelby. I can already tell that you're either:

a. a Chevy fan boy that thinks the LS1 is Gods motor
b. a 15 year old kid that his daddy told him Ford's are bad
c. a Euro or Jap fan boy that can't acknowledge a good car when he sees one.

There is no automatic transmission available from the factory. If you can't drive a manual then you have no business trying to drive that car.

As for the live axle thing, I'm surprised that Ford didn't go with an IRS setup for it's halo car. I can see where the average Mustang GT owner wouldn't want to pay another 5 grand for IRS. But the person who buys the Shelby probably isn't going to be phased by another $5k in the price of the car.
