Our 33rd Annual Golf Tourney in support of ECF
ECF = Exceptional Children's Foundation, which for 60+ years has helped folks of all ages with developmental disabilities in the greater LA area.
http://www.ecf.net/ When I met Terri 36 years ago she said that if I planned to date her I should plan to support the charity that she had been supporting for awhile. Seemed fair to me. This event is held in memory of, first, her father, Dale, who started the tournament and died prematurely about 20 years ago, and then when her mom died a few years back, also in memory of her mom. This year, one of our 30+ year event supporters died so we are honoring him especially this year. I think I am scheduled as the next honoree... The downside being that I have to die first.
But I digress...
This year our corporate financial support is strong but we need more golfers to maximize fun. Held Friday, September 18. http://www.ecf.net/golf-benefit-2/ You, and/or a friend and family member who plays, would be welcome as our guests. Terri and I have 4 guest spots. Good fun, good food, for a good cause. Your cost will be your gas money to get there and back, and your time. We will even provide the golf balls to lose
I'm happy to talk to anyone privately about the details, but it is a good-spirited group, decent course, and the event is usually wrapped by 8pm.

Great! It is funny, the world is so busy now, that getting folks to step away for a day like this is really a challenge.xbacksideslider wrote:Hey James, I'm in. Looking forward to being there and supporting too
We will do details off-line.

I fly back up to SoCal tomorrow night for the Friday event. Will take care of loose ends -- like we need 13 sets of loaner clubs and the golf course only has 9 sets. So far this year is on track to be by far the most money that we will have delivered to the charity.
We will head back to Mexico Monday night. I think. I lose track. We will spend much of the rest of the year here. That will be nice.
It will be fun to have a "socalt"/laspeedgarage person playing at the event. Thanks, xbacksideslider.
Next year, mas!

Will see you there James. 11:00 am correct? At Los Robles Greens in Thousand Oaks, north of the 33 and west of the 101. Bringing a check.

Yes, come over a little earlier if you want and you can help me set up the putting contest. A Check, great, but not necessary. Just stay around for the dinner and you will end up spending some moneyxbacksideslider wrote:Will see you there James. 11:00 am correct? Reporting in from the McDonalds parking lot in Woodland Hills. The McDonalds wifi is strong enough to reach out to the parking lot so I can sit in the car, sip a cupaJoe and check email. When driving around the country in the SPF this month, 1-2 times a day I would stop and buy a small drink at Macs and use the wifi.

So I'm not saying that xbackss carried us, but as a team we got an eagle and 5 birdies, and we normally get 2 birdies. Way to smack it.
Thanks for attending and sharing the fun of the day.
The event was good, made some serious cash for the charity, ECF. I have asked for a "flash" number so that when we talk to donors we have that number. If it isn't $80,000 I will be disappointed.

James, thank you. Thank you for a rewarding day. It was nice to meet you and Terri.
If life allows, insofar as she is a Speech Language Pathologist and Therapist, I'll try to arrange my daughter's entry next year. I sent her a link to the ECF site and she approved !

Very good. I will work on my pathetic game in the meantime. Yes, we netted $85K to the charity, and had a good time doing it.xbacksideslider wrote:James, thank you. Thank you for a rewarding day. It was nice to meet you and Terri.

thanks for participating, good to meet you as a person, rather than a poster!
