Yeah, I'm going to make sure it's in tip top shape mechanically before I worry too much about the looks. I cleaned the overspray off the wind screen, and I'll give all the paint a polish, but I won't paint it until it's registered, and proved reliable. I'm now leaning heavily back toward keeping the original paint scheme.

As long as you don't make a full on run to the end of speed versus Brakelate, you should be fine.

I'm not that crazy. Even on the ZX-11, I don't think I ever went faster than ~120. With 130+whp, that bike could've easily gone north of 160. Once my new clutch cable comes in, and I get it mounted, I can get this thing out onto the local streets for some testing.

I'm VERY close to having this thing on the ground and running. I ordered a new clutch return spring and clutch cable. The spring came in a couple days ago, the cable will be here tomorrow. I tried installing the spring alone, and adjusting the cable to see if it would solve my problem. It seemed to solve it temporarily, but then the lever did the same pop while I had the bike running, and I lost the clutch again. Once the new cable is in, I'll try again. If the problem persists, I'll wonder if the clutch plates have become stuck together after sitting for so long. I also have the plate mounted on a brand new bracket I modified to fit. I'll post a bunch of pics and a vid of it running once it's done.

It's finally running! Still having a little trouble with cold starts. It doesn't seem to like the choke too much, but that may have to do with the jetting. I have to mess with the idle screw to get it started, then I can pull the choke half way out to bring the revs up to about 2000. Once warm, I set the idle to ~1200 rpm.

Here are some pics of the journey...

What I've had to do:

Take apart, clean, and re-paint carbs
Clean, and re-oil pod air filters
Rebuild front and rear brake master cylinders
Clean/lube the chain
New battery
New clutch cable
Clean up some wiring
Change oil/filter
Fix how the tail section was mounted
Install a modified license plate bracket

Once it's registered an running with no issues, I'll start to tackle the cosmetics.

Maybe I'll have Rach take one for me down the road. She's at work, so I didn't have anyone to snap a pic of me as I rode around our condo community to see how it went.
