It should be easy to tell since the non-Calif. bikes had a different carb and a bigger header pipe and those things would be visible. They also had hotter cams and more compression and a 10500 RPM limiter, rather than 10000. And, the differences are said to add up to a lot of power, although Mike's bike is slow (Note to self: avoid punching off with Mike).jhwalker wrote:I will check. All the rest of the 2006 E's still had the 39mm carb, and, I assume, also, the other power enhancements. So, the two bikes for sale may well still be the non-California models.mikedbike2002 wrote:The 2006E model does not have the 39mm carb, better cams nor the thin base gasket. I have a 2006 E motor in my DRZ . But I put the good stuff in it. Stock is the same 36 hp motor they all have. Very early E has the better cams & carb & gasket.

Without something to compare to do you think I can detect "different" and "bigger"? But this is a theoretical discussion as usual. The owner will have all of the documentation, he is that kind of guy. (still is playing hide and seek with me, I think he is trying to get me to make the first move...Tetge wrote:It should be easy to tell since the non-Calif. bikes had a different carb and a bigger header pipe and those things would be visible. Thus ends the dream for now. He is going to try to lower the bikes. Doesn't want to part with them for now. I'm getting the feeling that his son wants them too, and I automatically lose that contest... Oh well. I may look for a KTM...
