Driving the SPF to Pardeeville, Wisconsin

by way of Bottineau N. D. . Visiting an old friend I worked with in the late 60's and early 70's who has a house on a lake that has a North shore in Canada, and he lives on the South shore.

I plan to end up at http://www.pardeevillecarshow.com/ meeting some other knuckleheads who will drive SPFs in.

The route will not be that exactly, but you get the idea. Not sure of the route back to N Colorado.

I've had this stupid urge to drive the SPF thru all of the contiguous states in the USA, and with a creative path back from Pardeeville I could possibly notch 8-9-10 on top of the 5 it has already been in. This "all states" goal is not a biggie, but it ties into another goal of actually visiting all of the US states now that I live in Mexico.

The skinny on the SPFs for best launch is insure at the rear toe in is set at a total of 1/4" with exactly 1/8" on each side. "This will make a significant difference over the commonly used 1/8" total rear toe in." We fly to Colorado in 2 weeks and about 10 hours. Adam is still trying to get a good dyno tune, and I'm hoping he gets some miles on the new set-up. How dare he have his own life, and his own cars?

Sounds like it should be tons of fun! You wouldn't think such a small increment would make a difference, but with such a short wheelbase, I guess it can.

It has a top, but I don't like it. I find that at 70 mph the windshield pushes the rain over my head, but I still have a little poncho that I put on in the rain.

It is not fun to drive much over 65 (kind of like my new Ducati) so they would have to really stretch to find a reason. I assume that they are waiting for me. And, if it did happen, I have a group of lawyer friends who would step in to assist pro bono. It would make a great internet story -- "kindly old geezer, just had cancer cut out, trying to get some memories banked in case big C comes back, and they try to take my toy away". bastigs

No hassles last year in Texas, Okla, Kansas and Colorado. I will remain an optimist.

I am more concerned about the driver who is supposed to pick us up in two hours to take us to a wedding in Queretaro, who is then supposed to keep our luggage in the car while we party, and then drive us to a hotel near the airport for some sleep before we head out early tomorrow morning for LA and Denver. No one is answering the phone to confirm that he knows how to find our casa out in the campo... Several have not been able to find the house in the past.

I don't have a good backup plan for him not showing.

Saturday night was good. Managed to get 2 hours sleep before boarding the plane to LAX, that went well, arrived in Denver yesterday afternoon.

Car is ready-o to go. Had a nice breakfast at the T-Bar Inn in Wellington. Their motto, "If you want fast go to Denver, we are slow but good".

Tonight's destination, Bowman, N D. North Winds Lodge. Off to the races...

Eating health food in Sturgis. 10 McNuggets, and hitting the road. Taking off, because I need to get to Bowman before dark, due to a minor fuse issue. The SPF has been very sweet today and the last 60 miles have been in the mountains, left right left right left right. todo bien so far.
