After due consideration, and after taking in account the apparent lack of interest in this event, I have decided that at my advanced age, sitting in the staging lanes with my helmet on in 100* heat would not be to my best interests. The forecast has not varied and it will be hot even way into the evening. I also am feeling lazy now that the heat has arrived and swapping to my DR's, and then swapping back to my street rubber after the event, appears to be a daunting task. So, I will pass on the season opener and wait for a more favorable weather report before returning to Willow.

I also noted that Famoso will be having one of their slip and slide nights soon (Fri, the 13th, I believe). And, Famoso is a real drag strip. I did not check the long range forecast for the 13th at McFarland, but, hitting that zoo could be a plan since I never want to do more than 3 laps anyway.

Correction re Famoso

Post by Tetge » Fri Jun 06, 2014 10:28 am

It turns that that the 06/13 open T&T is the third such event this year, not the opener. But, the advanced forecast shows temps in the mid to low 90's for most of the evening, only getting down into high 80's later. But I attached the schedule.

I'm going to have to forego any serious risk of breaking something until I find a new job. I was downsized 6/2/14

Plus, baking in the heat is not my idea of a good time

Bummer since I know that you loved your job. I keep forgetting that people in the private sector no longer have jobs for life.

And, I agree about baking in the sun, which is why I passed on Willow. Also, Famoso is often humid and hot with bugs and stuff, so, I will not be running up there Friday the 13th.

Good luck with your job search.

If you were going to attend training on a campus full of pretty young things, I'd completely understand. But, don't you have to be actively seeking employment to draw unemployment benefits?

Jerome, were you at the Pomona WCHR event? I haven't seen anything on how that went
Yes. the event went well. Lots of fast cars and moderate weather. It was not as crowded as previous years.

Sorry to hear about your recent unemployment.

Jerome
