Dec 22 or 23 -- Any interest in El Pescador??
Terri and I will be in So Cal for her last medical event (we hope) and have NUFFIN planned yet for the Sat or Sun before Christmas.
Any one interested in a 'grita / food fest?
Someone who is in contact with Jay could loop him in...

I saw this post, but, that is years away in dog years, so, it is not possible for me to make any plans. However, the thread is now established, and, it can be updated, although it is unlikely to get as many posts as the Ducati thread!

I have 'time pressures' to say that we have a 'go'. I have family, Terri has family, and I lived in LA for 40 years. Is anyone interested? It would be good to see old friends.

I may send some PM's -- is anyone talking to the 'usual suspects'? Jay, Norton John, Ohio John, Ron, Tim (site owner), and I forget others (blame it on the strokes... )
The more the merrier...

Re: Dec 22 or 23 -- Any interest in El Pescador??
Wednesday afternoon, coming home from grocery shopping, I shifted from 2nd to 3rd, and, it would not go into 3rd. It turns out that, at 6318 total miles, the clutch experienced a sudden failure. The pedal was almost down to the floor, and, it stayed there so the clutch was not releasing to enable shifting. I finally pumped the clutch pedal after coasting to a stop, and, after a bit, it appeared to recover, and, as I was within sight of my house, I got it in gear and back to my garage. But, there were noises coming from the bell housing and there was a lot of burning clutch smoke (a lot).
Naturally I called the local dealership, and they said Ford would pay for the tow, and that they would give me an appointment for Dec 11 to have the car looked at! The service writer was nice, but, he insisted that they were hammered and had no techs or openings until that date. So, I made the appointment, and then contacted Ford Customer Assistance, but, although they opened a case, they could do no more than e-mail the service manager at the dealership to see if there was anything that could be done to expedite repairs. They also all said that since I did not purchase an extended warranty, I was not covered at all for a rental car. Finally, since they are very compartmentalized, I called Ford Roadside Assistance, and, they told me that they would only tow my car to the nearest servicing Ford dealership, and, there is only one such dealership where I reside.
My first new Mustang was a 1967 390 GTA, and, I have had a lot of Msutangs over the 50 years since then, and they have all been reliable stock, and, my Terminator, even though I tore it up drag racing, never once was towed. Ironic that I get a new 2017, barely drive it, don't race it, and actually baby it, and it fails at 6318 miles. And, of course, I had no idea that if your relatively new 2017 Mustang, still on its complete bumper to bumper warranty, does fail, it might take a long time, and cost significant out of pocket money, to get it fixed under warranty. Dumb old me thought that such a fix would be a priority for Ford. But...........
So, I may well no even have transportation by Dec 22-23rd, as the dealer also explained that after they look at the car, on the 11th, they will determine what needs to be done, and order all the parts, and then find time on a lift, after all the parts have arrived, to fix the car. They work this way so that their lifts will not be tied up, so, once on a lift, the car should get fixed, assuming a complete clutch replacement, fairly quickly. But, it could be a long time out of service, which is not good at all considering that it is a practically new vehicle, and, I am not a clutch abuser, other than deliberately in the past at the drag strip. Clutch was perfect, and then, it failed in an instant. Hopefully, this will be obvious, as clutches are a touchy area when it comes to warranty, as Ford likes to allege abuse and deny coverage, as a clutch is a wear item.
In any case, I never have liked the feel of the clutch, and, the car has never shifted well, so perhaps it was never right?
