Back in the USA!!!!!

Post by jhwalker »

We are in Cachulla Tx.
600 miles today. 4 miles in 4 hours at the border. Details to follow. 'Random' selection for detail car and luggage search. 40 minutes worth of detail searching after waiting 3 hours 15 minutes in line
Total trip to SoCal will be approx 2100 miles the way we are going.
Pooped, will fill in details next week.
Expect to arrive in SoCal Sunday morning unless we decide to push it. May sleep in tomorrow after an 18 hour day
I love road trips...

631 miles today. humpa-rumpa... Texas has speed limits wired. 80 mph rural 75 at night -- So with stops, still averaged over 70 mph. Everything is orderly with the drivers. What a time saver!

We are sleeping tonite in El Paso. Tomorrow will be another full day of driving -- 600+ miles, with lower speed limits. So another 10+ hours of driving tomorrow, but then day 4 will just be 300+ miles.
I have a bunch of stuff to say (as always), but am exhausted.

Terri and I LOVE this kind of trip -- thinking about renting an RV for 3-4-5 months, trailering/towing the SPF cobra rep. Maybe 2019, because next year is booked up...
We are exhausted
later

We are in Blythe, Ca tonight. An easy 610 miles today. Tomorrow a quick 230 miles more or less to LA. A busy Sat and Christmas day planned, then family stuff.

I made 40+ travel notes. Will share soon. Very profound stuff 8-)

Terri has her last week of work 12/26, 12/27, 12/28, 12/29. Then drive up to NorCal for 12/31-1/1, drive back to LA, fly to Arkansas for a few days and back to Central Mexico. Knock on wood. I have held up pretty well, even drove 2 hours yesterday and 2 hours today
Take cover!!!!! I will drive in LA

We are here at 'headquarters' -- Terri's house in downtown LA. Today brought us up to 2100 miles total. Fun trip... I'm too tired to post any stuff yet. We were in 2 traffic jams -- 1 at the border and the other on Crenshaw Blvd

 yesterday we got a 'skip jail' document from the DMV. The Escape still has the 2011 reg. sticker on the plate. :naughty: Have to get it legal and some repairs before giving it to the relative. It ran like a champ, but the 'check engine light is on (ERG valve) and the tire pressure sensor failed. Go figure
Terri's last day at work is tomorrow. Then we drive to SF for New Year's Day, back here the next day, then Terri has jury duty Jan 3-? downtown, then fly to Arkansas to see family, then fly home. I miss home...

Holy cow! I'm sure you're glad the last leg will be in the air. That's a helluva lot of seat time.
